How to Migrate to Australia
Migrate to Australia from Dubai with confidence. Learn the Australian General Skilled Migration (GSM) process, visa options, eligibility requirements, and how F4MG supports every step.
How to Migrate to Australia
Australia's General Skilled Migration (GSM) program offers skilled professionals the opportunity to live and work in Australia through a points-based immigration system. If you're applying from Dubai, F4MG can guide you through every stage of the process, from assessing your eligibility to submitting your visa application.
While processing times vary depending on your occupation, visa subclass, and government processing, the journey typically takes between 12 and 18 months.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

The first step is to determine whether you meet the requirements for Australia's General Skilled Migration program. F4MG begins with a comprehensive eligibility assessment that reviews key factors such as:
- Your age
- English language proficiency
- Educational qualifications
- Skilled work experience
- Occupation demand in Australia
Based on your profile, F4MG will estimate your points score and recommend the most suitable visa pathway.
Step 2: Complete Your Skills Assessment
Before you can apply for a skilled migration visa, your qualifications and work experience must be assessed by the relevant Australian skills assessing authority.
F4MG assists you with preparing and submitting all required documentation to the appropriate organisation, such as:
- Australian Computer Society (ACS) for IT professionals
- Engineers Australia for engineering occupations
- Other authorised assessing bodies based on your nominated occupation
A positive skills assessment is a mandatory requirement before progressing to the next stage.
Step 3: Meet the English Language Requirement

Applicants must demonstrate their English language ability by taking an approved test. Accepted exams include:
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
- PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English)
- OET (Occupational English Test) for eligible healthcare professionals
Achieving a higher English score can increase your points under the General Skilled Migration system and improve your chances of receiving an invitation to apply.
Step 4: Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
Once your skills assessment and English test results are complete, F4MG will prepare and lodge your Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Australian Government's SkillSelect system.
Your EOI outlines your qualifications, work experience, English score, and total migration points. It is not a visa application but rather a way of expressing your interest in being invited to apply for skilled migration.
Depending on your occupation and points score, you may receive an invitation for one of Australia's skilled visa programs.
Step 5: Lodge Your Visa Application

If you receive an invitation to apply, you'll generally have 60 days to submit your visa application.
F4MG supports you throughout this stage by helping you prepare the required documents, complete your application accurately, and submit it to the Australian Government. Once approved, you can receive Australian permanent residency, depending on the visa subclass.
Australian Skilled Migration Visa Options
F4MG assists applicants with several skilled migration pathways, including:
- Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189): A points-tested permanent residency visa that does not require sponsorship from an employer, state, or family member.
