Overview

The Subclass 102 Adoption Visa is for children who have been adopted or are in the process of being adopted by Australian citizens under an approved intercountry adoption program. Australia has bilateral adoption agreements with several countries including South Korea, China, India, Thailand, and South Africa.

The adoption process is managed jointly between Australian state/territory authorities and the sending country. The 102 visa is applied for once the adoption is recognised or being finalised. Only Australian citizens (not permanent residents) can sponsor a 102 visa.
