Subclass 143Contributory Parent Visa
Faster permanent visa for parents of Australian citizens or permanent residents. Pay a higher contribution charge in exchange for shorter processing times.
Overview
The Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143) lets a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen move to Australia permanently.
It is the faster of the two permanent parent visa options, in exchange for a significantly higher visa fee (the 'second instalment' of the contribution charge). The 143 is typically preceded by a temporary Subclass 173 visa.
To qualify, parents must meet the 'balance of family' test: at least half of their children must be Australian citizens or permanent residents living in Australia, or more of their children must live in Australia than in any other single country.
