Overview

The Subclass 801 Onshore Partner Visa is the permanent stage of the combined 820/801 partner visa application. It is usually granted to holders of the temporary Subclass 820 visa after approximately two years from the original lodgement date, provided the relationship is genuine and ongoing.

Once granted, the 801 visa allows you to live permanently in Australia, sponsor eligible family members, access Medicare, and work or study without restrictions. After four years of permanent residency, you may be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship.
